We're big fans of cute animals at Nordic Kids which is why love Ej Sikke Lej so much! Beautiful but simple designs which often feature our friends from the animal kingdom against fabrics in different and vibrant colours meant it was a brand we just had to add to the site.
Ej Sikke Lej was founded by Margit Egeskov and Marlene Eger Ullum in Copenhagen in 2004 when they were inspired by some funny animal prints that they found in some old needlework books. In particular, they fell in love with a print of an owl that they decided would look wonderful on a children's t-shirt, especially as it had little touch of humour to it.
The first garment where the owl featured was on a red t-shirt which was a huge hit both critically and commercially. Since then that owl has come a long way to become an integral part of the Ej Sikke Lej brand, not only featuring on numerous different items of clothing but also as part of the brand logo. New t-shirts and other garments with different animal prints have since been added to the collection. However, these animals are presented in the same style of design as the owl and the fabric colours available are all strong and vivid ensuring they avoid the clichd or dull colours often made for kids.
The Ej Sikke Lej collection is now sold in seven countries across Europe and has proved to be popular with the quality press and discerning parents alike.
