In a typically Swedish relaxed style, designers Ulrika E. Engberg and Kasper Medin got chatting over a cup of filter coffee and realised that they both had the same dream... to create furniture for kids that would also appeals to grown ups. The year was 2006 and Little Red Stuga had arrived!
"We want our design to take place in the room, to be an eye catcher and inspire an interaction between children and adults. The essence of storytelling is the uniqueness of which the furniture and products are based on."
That was their stated aim and if we're any judge then we think they've definitely hit their target. Children's furniture that adds to a room and has a background to it that can fascinate your child almost as much as any book!
Take, for example, the Little Red Stuga bean bag. Only this isn't just a bean bag, its Kebnekaise, the highest mountain in Sweden! Imagine the tales of derring-do as your little ones try to scale the peak. Or the Little Red Stuga play mat that also happens to be full of flowering petals where your child can experience all kinds of fantastical adventures.
Furniture that fires a kids imagination like this is a rare accomplishment indeed. That each piece also has a real design aesthetic that can add to the overall look of any room meant we couldn't do anything but make them available on Nordic Kids as quickly as we could!
Little Red Stuga is Swedish design for children at its very best.
